Farcocin cream and Farcocin ointment (gentamicin) are highly effective formulations for topical treatment of primary and secondary skin mfections caused by gentamicin-sensitive pathogenic bactena.
Description
Farcocin is bactericidal against most strains of staphylococci (including penicillin-resistant strams), some strains 01 streptococci and the Gram-negative bacteria: Pseudomonas aerugmosa (insensitive to many antibiotics). Escherichia coli and klebsiella, Proteus, Enterobacter, Citrobacter and Serratia species. Gentamicin (an aminoglycoside antibiotic) binds irreversibly to tle 30S ribosomal subunits causing inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis and induces misreac.mg of the genetic code with eventual bacterial cell death. Farcocin is formulated in cream and 0 ntment forms to suit the different coromons of infected skin. The cream suits hairy and intertrigmous areas and is recommended for wet oozing and greasy infected skin while the ointment IS preferable for infections of dry eczematous or psoriatic skin.
